Naturopathy is a distinctive natural way to achieve health and cure, and it adopts the principle of the person’s health as a whole. Naturopathy, or interdisciplinary medicine, follows biomedicine in the Western world.

It focuses on treating diseases by stimulating, improving and supporting a person's potential for treatment.  Methods of treatment were selected to work with the vital energy of the patient taking into account the natural treatment process. The nature medicine emerged through six basic principles of treatment, which are based on objective observation of health and disease and it is constantly examined in the light of the scientific analysis.

This approach distinguishes itself from other medical approaches by the following principles: The healing power of nature: the body has the ability to create, maintain and restore health. The healing process is an intelligent and regular process, as nature heals through the life force response. The practitioner’s role is limited to facilitating and strengthening this process, as well as working to identify and eliminate obstacles to health and healing, and also to support the formation of a healthy internal and external environment. Identifying and treating the cause refers to the idea that illness does not occur without a cause.
The underlying causes of the disease must be discovered and eliminated or treated before a person can recover completely from the disease. Symptoms are expressions of the body's attempt to treat itself, but they are not the cause of the disease. Therefore, symptoms should not be suppressed by treatment. Diseases’ causes can occur on many levels, including mental, emotional and psychological.

The practitioner must evaluate the causes rather than evaluating the symptoms. Diseases and health problems are useful of creatures. The healing process includes revealing symptoms which are actually an expression of the life force attempt to heal itself.
A Naturopath can either work to support or host nature's ability to heal. The recovery should support and continue the life force healing process. Therefore, the methods used to suppress the symptoms rather than treating the main causes of the diseases are considered to be harmful and should be avoided. Health and disease are two states of the organism as a whole, and this includes a complex interaction of physical, spiritual, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental, social and other factors. The practitioner must treat the person as a whole by taking all of the above factors into consideration. The functional harmony of all aspects of the individual is essential for the recovery and prevention of disease, which requires the use of a comprehensive, person-specific method for diagnosis and treatment. The naturopath must work to establish a healthy and sensitive relationship between him and the patient. The collaborative relationship between the patient and the physician is significant for its potential therapeutic value because the primary role of the practitioner is to teach the patient how to take responsibility for his health and encourage him to do so. The practitioner plays the role of a catalyst that promotes healthy changes and strengthens the patient and motivates him to take responsibility. It is the patient, not the practitioner, who ultimately creates or realizes the treatment. The practitioner must also strive to give hope and show understanding to the patient. Moreover, the naturopath must also commit to developing himself personally and spiritually, in order to become a good teacher. Precaution is the best cure and it must be the essential goal of any health system. This can be achieved by following and reinforcing healthy life habits. The naturopath then evaluates the risk factors and genetic susceptibility of the disease, and makes appropriate interventions to avoid further harm or danger to the patient. The emphasis is on building health, not on fighting disease.
