Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy, an energy which is all around us. Reiki is the name given to a non-invasive system of working with energy, originating in Japan, developed by Dr Mikao Usui, based on many years of study, research and learning across many cultures. Usui passed on his teachings to a number of students and over the years Reiki has migrated across the world and taken up varying forms.

There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive or learn to give a Reiki treatment, the only prerequisite is the desire to work with energy.

This programme teaches what is believed to be the original teachings of Usui, but also highlights the differences in how Reiki has developed into what is known as the “Western” form.

This programme covers the traditional teachings of Reiki Level 1, or Reiki First Degree:

An introduction to Reiki; the history and background of Reiki; Usui’s simple system of

working with energy; the Reiki precepts; and performing energy exercises. This helps the student to develop their feel for energy and being to learn how to work with energy. A number of empowerments and attunements are given throughout the teaching to enhance the students connection to the energy.

The course covers working with reiki as a form of treatment, working with reiki, reiki hand positions and performing reiki on others.

This programme also covers the traditional teachings of Reiki Level 2, or Reiki Second Degree, which is often referred to as the practitioner level. This includes: being introduced to the reiki symbols and becoming familiar with different energies, or frequencies of energy; further developing the ability to work with the energy, developing enhanced intuition and intent; introducing the concept of oneness” and developing the art of distance healing. This course also covers some of the practical aspects of working with Reiki as a practitioner.

This programme will also focus on working with reiki with animals, transferring the skills learned to treating horses, the various ways of approaching treatment with horses, and practicing treatment techniques with love animals.

Reiki is far more than just a treatment technique. Learning Reiki can have a profound and positive effect on the individual, connecting them to a constant source of energy in their daily lives.
